Greenwood in The Community
A wonderful group of volunteers are currently restoring a graveyard at a disused church in East Wittering – near Chichester – in memory of a friend of the village, who had previously well looked-after the graveyard.
The group are clearing the ground of debris, removing weeds, stabilising fallen headstones and making the graveyard a much more presentable place for people to visit and pay their respects.
Greenwood are very proud to be supporting this project and are donating a selection of plants, to help brighten up the area surrounding the graves.
Greenwood are one of the largest growers of outdoor plants in the UK and an expanding local employer. As plant growers we are passionate about plants and the beneficial effect plants have on the environment, therefore we have loved the opportunity to donate, in support of our
We are now looking for other worthy community organisations, with areas of garden or public space that would benefit from some gifted plants.
We are currently asking for applicants to contact us, giving details of your organisation and a little bit about the proposed planting plan. We are looking to support 4 more projects this Summer, like the East Wittering cemetery restoration, and will be happy to donate up to 50 plants for each of these.
As we are looking to support local organisations the plants must be used in a project within 5 miles of our Walberton, Barnham or Sidlesham nurseries. The plants will be a selection of flowering perennials, evergreen and deciduous shrubs, grasses and other ornamental outdoor plants.
Please contact Kevin Merritt via email, or via the contact number below and share these details with your local community groups. Suitable groups may include schools, community groups, youth clubs, public gardens etc. We would love to hear from any charitable organisation that has a space that could be enhanced by plants – all are welcome to apply.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
