Greenwood Plants and The Tree Council Help Transform Roof Garden at The Passage
Greenwood Plants, in partnership with The Tree Council, supported a roof garden project at The Passage Homeless Shelter by donating plants that have helped transform the space into a welcoming green area.
The Passage, founded in 1980, operates London’s largest voluntary sector day centre for homeless and vulnerable individuals. It provides vital services such as meals, clothing, housing support and access to welfare, helping over 200 people each day. The charity also manages several accommodation projects across the city.
The Tree Council is currently working with Greenwood on the Three Million Trees project, alongside National Highways, to supply native trees to community-led projects across the UK. Together with Greenwood Community, the company’s plant donation scheme, they helped bring fresh planting to The Passage’s rooftop garden. Volunteers carried out weeding, pruning, watering and planting to revitalise the beds with new colour and life.
Greenwood Community aims to support up to 30 non-profit organisations, including schools, hospices, charities and environmental groups, with plant donations that promote wellbeing and access to green space.
This project highlights the value of collaboration in making horticulture accessible, creating a peaceful outdoor area for residents and visitors at The Passage to enjoy.
