Pioneering Greenwood research presented at RHS PhD Symposium
The Royal Horticulture Society’s (RHS) annual PhD Symposium took place at RHS Wisley on Thursday 20th November. Greenwood’s PhD in into the carbon budgets of nursery stock, undertaken in partnership with eh RHS and Sheffield University, was presented by PhD leader Louis Kosowicz, generating productive discussions into the how the research will be used in future to inform sustainable landscape design. The event brought together students and industry partners to showcase current focus areas of research supported by the RHS. The study is examining the above and below ground carbon content of British native species at different points in their life cycle, aiming to build a data model that tracks how carbon storage potential develops over time, comparing present day performance with projected outcomes under future temperature scenarios.Louis gave an update on the project’s progress, outlining current findings, and signposting the next stages of work.
