Job role:
The role will see commitment and skill in the application of herbicides, pesticides and crop spraying and ideally have either a PA1/ PA2/ PA4S/ PA6 certification. Nurturing and protecting crops with the correct chemicals, water, and fertiliser applications.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for Plant Biosecurity matters across all sites and the maintenance of our Plant Healthy plant hygiene standards.
- Day-to-day responsibility of spraying crops on all sites and managing the team
- Follow all H&S procedures and legislation for crop spraying
- Mix, load, and apply pesticides onto fields in accordance with label required rates and procedures with support of experience for either PA1/PA2/PA4S/PA6 certifications
- Maintain and repair all necessary application equipment
- Calibrate sprayers and chemical application equipment
- Proactively identify crop issues in the field while spraying and communicate observations to line managers
- Carry out regular crop walks with external crop advisors
- Safely operate agricultural equipment and vehicles
- Maintain work area, chemical storage area, and equipment in a condition that promotes good safety practices
- High level of record keeping and report writing to audit standard
- Have the ability to spot a problem and promote action plans and ongoing trial work to deliver workable solutions
- Be able to manage sampling schedules and external laboratory work
- Have the ability to question and challenge the norm and create new ways of working.

- Ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ideally have either a PA1/ PA2/ PA4S/ PA6 certification
- Compliance with H&S regulations
