Greenwood donates plants to BBC DIY SOS project

Greenwood Plants was proud to support a recent DIY SOS project in Southampton, donating a wide range of plants as part of a complete garden transformation for a local family in Bitterne. The episode, which will air on BBC One next year, saw Greenwood partner with longstanding clients DesignScapes Southwest to help deliver a stunning soft landscaping scheme.

The DIY SOS team selected the family after they suffered a series of setbacks at the hands of previous contractors, who had abandoned renovation works and left their home almost uninhabitable. Hundreds of volunteers, suppliers, and local tradespeople came together to turn the property around in just eight days, giving the family a safe and welcoming home once again.

DesignScapes led the landscaping works, creating a new garden space that combined practical design with beautiful planting. Greenwood donated a wide variety of plants to fill the space with texture and colour, whilst minimising pollen producing plants to help with the family’s allergies.

This project marks Greenwood’s largest contribution yet under its Greenwood Community initiative, which supports non-profit and community projects across the UK through plant donations.

It was inspiring to see so many businesses and volunteers unite for such a meaningful cause, and Greenwood is proud to have played a part in transforming the garden into a thriving, green retreat for the family to enjoy for years to come.
