Greenwood Plants trials electric distribution with Volta Trucks
Greenwood Plants has partnered with innovative electric truck manufacturer, Volta Trucks, to trial one of their vehicles as part of Greenwood’s national logistics fleet.
The trial will run for two weeks, with the aim of providing Greenwood with valuable insight into the functionality and feasibility of using electric vehicles in its delivery fleet in the long term. The sustainable landscape supply business will have access to one of Volta’s pioneering ‘Volta Zero’ trucks, which has been completely designed from the ground up with sustainability and safety in mind.
“Sustainability is one of our core values, and we’re continually looking for innovative ways to minimise our carbon emissions, and work towards our goal of achieving Net Zero. The opportunity to work with a pioneer such as Volta Trucks is exciting, and we’re looking forward to understanding how this new technology can work within our logistics fleet”, said Melanie Asker, Greenwood Group Managing Director.
Volta Trucks were founded in 2019, aiming to accelerate the transition to fully electric trucks, helping to make cities safer, healthier, and more sustainable. The unique design of their flagship model, Volta Zero, offers significantly improved carbon emissions compared to traditional combustion engine trucks, but also offers enhanced safety features for both the driver and other road users.
Carla Detrieux, Volta Trucks’ Director of Global Business Development, said “We are proud to supply one of our class-leading fleet prototypes to Greenwood Plants for this trial. Our business is committed to helping other like-minded companies such as Greenwood, make the shift to sustainably powered vehicles, which not only provides a benefit to the environment, but also helps protect drivers and pedestrians.”
The trial is part of Greenwood’s commitment to driving change, by pioneering new technologies and processes to achieve its goal of reaching Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030. Greenwood is the first horticultural business to trial an electric vehicle with Volta Trucks, and is delighted to be leading the industry.
